POP!corn with Cholo Sediaren

Entertainment
POP!corn with Cholo Sediaren is a radio show that is broadcast every week on the Ateneo de Manila University’s flagship radio station, Radyo Katipunan 87.9. Each episode is also available as a podcast for streaming on demand.
Hosted by pop culture expert Cholo Sediaren, the show features a mix of pop culture news roundups, reviews on buzzworthy TV movies, series and music, celebrity interviews, and roundtable discussions on the current state of pop culture. Notable past guests include OPM artists like Ben&Ben, Christian Bautista, and Barbie Almalbis.
Looking to set itself apart from the other programs on the station as well as other similar local podcasts of the same genre online, the show needed a logo and identity that captures its casual yet engaging vibe and Cholo’s friendly nature and sense of humor.
I Can See Your Halo
Like many other entertainment podcasts, POP!corn lives, breathes and worships pop culture. Inspired by halos seen in religious iconography, this graphic device takes a back seat with the opacity set low to make layout backgrounds less drab.
Brought Out Some Popcorn
Sprinkles of popcorn serve as an accent graphic that adds some on-brand pizazz to photography when either reporting on social media, promoting a new podcast episode or promoting the podcast itself.
Dancin’ in Circles
Custom-made circular borders contain icons and episode numbers in a way that makes them truly pop. One is a pared-down take on the “halo” and the other is a dashed border loosely based on the bird’s eye view of a classic popcorn bucket.
In Picture Frames, in All My Dreams
The mass of popcorn at the top half of the brand mark serves as the basis for these custom frames. With shapes that look irregular yet playful, these frames are used in situations when photography subjects are less likely to be cropped out.
